Discordian Creed

We are a tribe of philosophers, theologians, magicians, scientists, artists, clowns and similar maniacs who are intrigued with Eris, Goddess of Confusion, and her doings.

We believe She sent visions to Her chosen emissaries, later known as Omar Ravenhurst and Malaclypse the Younger, which led them to record the sacred scripture, the Principia Discordia.

The principles of our faith are contained within the Principia, but for those whose Eris-given insight doesn’t find it sufficient, we recognize that several other scriptures contain portions of Her holy message.

We believe Eris speaks to each person individually, and guides his or her actions toward her goals, which are incomprehensible to humankind.

We believe some persons are more adept than others are recognizing Eris’ voice, and we accord those persons the respect due their holy status.

We attempt to understand Eris’ message as expressed through all that exists. We attempt to bring understanding of Eris’ message to others.

We believe that all things are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense.

Feel free to share widely or delete from your harddrive. Feedback welcome; I intend to inflict this on the IRS along with other backround details of Discordianism.

Well, I don't think one can define discordia, but what the heck. As the cliff notes version for the IRS, it'll do!

Ha! If they had clue one about what it actually meant then they'd either piss themselves laughing, or in fright! [depending on weather they had a sense of humor or not, my money's on not!]

Soooo...
How long before we get to build an actual physical temple?
Or should we just start with an ex-circus tent and tour the Sounthern states scaring enlightening the natives?!
;)

Tsk...
You're not thinking. A Temple, to Eris Hello!

How about we co-opt a corner of a park ? Just need to plant an apple tree, or better yet, a grove of apple trees.

Yeh, the priesters could live there, to be on-call;
hold late night (Javacrution crossover) services for the drunks after the bars close.
discordian jazz nights, erisian dance class, chaos filk night,
Why, the possibilties are endless....

(Hah, and as a discordian, my spelling need not be consistant)

I think it "should be" (as in, more usually is) Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst.
